Summary

Manage accounts payable.  Process various tax returns.  Manage intricate and very detailed spreadsheets.  Create specialized reports for management and other departments.  Handle DOT compliance.

 

Essential Functions

  • Accounts payable management.
  • Maintain Floor Plan accounts with large vendors.
  • Manage warranty credits and receivables. 
  • Compile and process vendor statements.
  • Handle vendor account setups, process credit applications, issue W-9’s and respond to vendor requests.
  • Reconcile selected general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare special worksheets and workbooks in Excel, such as Sales Tax, BMIS and Floor Plan worksheets.
  • Ensure annual Department of Transportation compliance in Kansas and Missouri.
  • Assemble quarterly International Fuel Tax Association returns, Missouri Battery and Tire Tax returns and miscellaneous returns and governmental reports.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Deposit funds for all bank accounts.

 

Other Functions

  • Primary functional backup for payroll processing.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable.
  • Support management as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Proficient in other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounts payable and general ledger systems and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn specialized software and operate vendor portals.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial chart of accounts and accounting procedures.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
  • Process work with accuracy and with strong attention to detail.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Maintain confidentiality and process confidential information discreetly.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively and to provide information to coworkers and other departments with ordinary courtesy and tact.

Education

Minimum of nine hours of college accounting or Associates degree required.

 

Work Experience

Requires three years previous accounting-related experience, skills or knowledge.
